Orodes II’s reign is notably marked by the Battle of Carrhae in 53 BC, where his general, Surena, decisively defeated the Roman forces under Crassus.

This victory was one of the most significant military engagements between Rome and Parthia, solidifying Parthian power in the region and showcasing the limitations of Roman expansion into the East.

Despite the victory at Carrhae, Orodes II’s later years were troubled by renewed Roman incursions into Parthian territories under generals like Ventidius Bassus, who defeated Parthian forces in several battles.
