Justinian’s most enduring legacy is the Corpus Juris Civilis (Body of Civil Law), also known as the Justinian Code which became the foundation of Western legal tradition, influencing European legal systems for centuries.

Justinian embarked on an extensive building program across the empire, most notably in Constantinople. His era saw the construction of the Hagia Sophia, which served as the cathedral of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly a thousand years and remains a symbol of his reign.
